Day 1- My Juice Feast Begins…

Day 1- My Juice Feast Begins…

by Steve Prussack
Host of Raw Vegan Radio

I have made it through the first day on my Juice Feast.  If you are doing this along with me, congratulations!  I was going to make a video, but energy has been pretty low throughout the day.  I am going to share my experience and diary on this blog.  We can begin with what I want to accomplish on this cleanse.  Then, I will share some juice recipes from today’s Feast.  Last, I will share any symptoms experienced so far (emotional, physical, spiritual).

I have tried a number of cleanses in my life.  Herbal Cleanses, Healthforce Nutritional Cleanse, The Master Cleanse, Juice Fasts, Water Fasts…Ejuva.  I have pretty much tried them all.  This is the first time I am following David Rain’s Juice Feasting Protocol.  I have the support of my fiance Julie (at least for the weekend), but then I will most likely be on my own for the remaining days. The Juice Feasting Protocol is 92 days.  I am going to attempt this for 10 days, then continue if I feel up to it (depends on how I balance work with detoxing).  I will authentically share with you throughout, and hope we inspire each other to keep going.

I haven’t been eating great lately.  What I mean is, I haven’t been eating as high raw as I would like…I include juices in my diet everyday (just about).  But I have been having various vegan comfort foods and as a result, have been paying the price.  I have gained extra weight.   I am starting this cleanse weighing in at 182.4.  I prefer to be in the 170 range, or even a little less.  While I have been working out pretty consistently, I know I am not at my best right now.  I notice bags under my eyes (often), and they are also puffy at times.  I don’t spring out of bed in the morning, and I am getting about 7 hours of sleep a night (I want to require less).

To break it down, my goals for the Juice Feast are:

  • Weight Loss (15 Pounds)
  • Clearer Eyes
  • More Energy
  • A Need for Less Sleep

I am positive I can reach these goals on this Feast.  Now I will share the results of my first day cleansing.

Menu:

Breakfast:
1 Quart of Green Vegetable Juice
(Began with 2 Capsules of Healthforce Intestinal Movement Formula)
8 Carrots
4 Fuji Apples
1 Head of Kale
1 Bunch of Spinach
1 Tablespoon of Hemp Seed Oil

Lunch:  1 Quart of Fruit Juice
1 Pineapple
1 Bunch of Red Grapes
1/4 of Ginger Root

Dinner:  1 Quart of Fruit Juice
15 Valencia Oranges

Snack:  1 Quart of Green Vegetable Juice
4 Carrots
4 Honey Crisp Apples
1 Head of Romaine Lettuce
1 Celery Stalk
8 Leaves of Parsley
1 Tablespoon of MSM

Like I mentioned, I have been feeling low energy today.  I find it surprising how quickly I am starting to detox.  I felt light-headed at times, as if I was walking around in a haze.  We tried to take it easy all day, but did get out in the sun for a while.  We took our dog (Henry) to the dog park (where I felt like I was dreaming).  Leisure time included reading books and just resting.  I know the first 3 days of the cleanse are most difficult, and feel thankful we made it through today.  I am looking forward to this getting easier.

I was going to try to go to the gym for some light weightlifting, but just didn’t have the energy to make that happen.  I know Yoga would be ideal.  I look forward to rebounding tomorrow though.

Stay tuned, I’ll update you on tomorrow’s progress. And please post below how you are doing, I want to hear from you.
