Juice Feasting- Day 4

by Steve Prussack
Host of Raw Vegan Radio

This was definitely the easiest day of the fast.  I had a lot of energy, and was the most productive I’ve been since starting.  Lots to report on, so let’s start with the juices of the day.

Juices of the Day

1.  Celery/ Cucumber/ Red Bell Pepper/ Kale/ Red Leaf Lettuce/ Cilantro
2.  Cantaloupe
3.  Pineapple/ Strawberry (WOW….amazing!)
4.  Celery/ Carrot/ Cilantro/ Chard/ Apple
Snack:  Coconut

I consumed 1 Gallon of Juice today.

Weight Loss

I have lost 5 pounds on this cleanse so far. I now weight 174.4, down from initial weight of 182.4.  I am really excited and can see the difference in my face.  I didn’t realize how much I needed to lose some weight until now.  I am posting a picture here to show you that my face is thinner.  I took this picture while doing an interview on Raw Vegan Radio.  You can hear that interview on “Victory Over ADHD” here.

Encounter With Nature

I thought I would share this story of what happened when we took our dog Henry for a walk around the neighborhood.  I inadvertently walked through a huge spiderweb.  It was pretty dark out, and I didn’t see it.  We continued our walk, and returned home a few minutes later.  As I stood in the kitchen with Julie, I felt a sharp stinging pain behind my ear.  When I went to feel it, I found a LARGE brown widow spider who had just bit me!  I pushed him off of my ear, and went to Google “Brown Widow Spider Bites” on the computer.  Julie and I learned that they have venom more poisonous than black widows, but usually are not able to inject it all into a large specimen (such as me, a raw vegan man).  Still, it said that some people have serious symptoms and in some cases, can lead to death.  This was alarming, but I was sure my juice healthy body would be able to fight it.  We went on with our evening.  While I felt some dizziness in the gym, I can sense my body was fighting the venom.  When I told Julie my body had fought off the venom, she noted that the redness behind my ear was gone.  I was more than happy not to have visited a hospital room this evening.  I don’t think my body could have handled any drugs they might have tried to pump into me anyway.

Will Power

It’s official now. Julie ended her 3-day juice feast and now I am on my own. She loved the benefits, and is going to continue with a modified version (2 quarts of juice a day, along with raw foods like salads for lunch).  After shopping at Whole Foods this evening, she was enjoying a bag of raw cheezy kale chips (raw/ vegan/ organic).  These are one of my favorite snack foods, so I asked her for a sniff.  I have to say, I immediately salivated after smelling them.  Another thing I find amazing is how acute my senses are becoming.  My taste buds are also becoming more sensitive, and I am thoroughly enjoying my meals of juice.  It just took some getting used to, but I don’t feel like I am missing out on anything.  This is definitely the most gentle (and enjoyable) cleanse I have ever done.  I feel I could easily continue to 30 days, at which point, I will reassess (and decide if I will go the whole 92 days).

Energy While Cleansing

I haven’t had this much energy since starting the cleanse.  I had important meetings, completed a new radio show, worked on some projects, went for a walk, and even fit in some weight training at the gym.  I had a lot of sleep last night, which may be why I was feeling so good today.  I hope this keeps up and will let you know how I progress from here.

Good for you steve! Im waking up to day 2. Im hoping to completer 30 days as well although with parties and christmas it might only be 21 days. The most I’ve completed is 23 days and it was incredible. what I noticed during that 23 day period was a significant mood change (simply put, much happier and more energetic) and vastly improved sleep! I have hypothyroidism so am used to feeling low energy and having poor sleep. I wondered if the fast had changed my tsh levels, but I wasn’t able to get blood work done during that period. Good luck completing 30 or 92 days. It has the potential to be life changing! :)

Yeah! Way to go Steve.

I imagine you’ve seen the DVD ‘Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead’
That’s great motivation if you haven’t seen it. The star of the
show was here in Seattle a few weeks ago and gave a really
fun and powerful talk about juicing. He had the audience members
stand if they’d done a day fast/ week fast/ month fast etc.
A few people were still standing after he asked about a month
or longer results. What they had to share was inspiring.

Keep going!
