Juice Feasting- Day 5

by Steve Prussack

The day started off great but definitely met with some challenges later on, which is to be expected on this journey.  I woke up feeling good, and started the day making my usual gallon of juice to be prepared at all times.  The challenges came with emotional detox, and just feeling moody overall.  I experienced some detox symptoms, which I’ll tell you about later.

Juices of the Day

1.  Celery/ Cucumber/ Spinach/ Cilantro
2.  Pineapple/ Grapes/ Ginger (tastes like a Lemon Drop candy, somehow)
3.  Honeydew
4.  Red Bell Pepper/ Celery/ Spinach/ Cilantro
5.  More Honeydew
Snack:  Coconut

I consumed  a total of 1. 5 gallons of juice today.

Weight Loss

I was surprised to have actually gained back a pound today.  I weighed 178, up a pound since yesterday.  My overall weight loss to date is now 4 pounds, so let’s see what happens tomorrow.  I thought it was weird to have gained the pound back.  This might be due to the fact that I weighed myself at a different time of the day though, I’m not sure.

Moody Dude

I was in a great mood the first half of the day, but towards the evening, felt moody.  I wasn’t sure why, or where this bad mood was coming from.  I attribute it to detox, so just tried to tune in and balance.  I’m feeling a lot better now, and hoping that won’t return again.  It’s a little difficult, since Julie is going through her own emotions.  She is doing a modified version of the Juice Feast, consuming 2 quarts of juice a day along with a raw food meal (kale salad today).  She is detoxing from this modified program as well.  The good thing is that we support each other and try to be understanding that we are both not at our best right now.

Detox Symptoms

Like I said, I was feeling good the first part of the day, but then developed a headache mid-way through the afternoon.  This caused me to abandon some work I was doing and take a short nap.  I think the problem was that I didn’t drink enough water in between juices today.  Headaches are something that I have dealt with most of my life.  I get migraines on occasion, which is often difficult.  I am hoping this cleanse will remove whatever it is that causes these headaches so I don’t have to deal with one again.

Tomorrow is a new day, and I am just taking it day by day.  I can only think about where I am now, and how I am feeling in this moment.  Our family will be taking a short vacation for a few days to Big Bear Mountain for some skiing in late December.  They have absolutely no health food stores in Big Bear, California, so I am nervous about how I will juice those 3 days.  I am considering making juice for the 3 days in advance, although I know from a living enzyme stand-point, this is not ideal.  I will have to ask David Rain (JuiceFeasting.com) what he thinks I should do.  David has been very helpful, sending me messages through Facebook to ask about how this is going.  He also gave some tips on the modified version of the Juice Feast that Julie has implemented.

I am thankful to those of you that are juicing along with me.  Your comments on this blog have been inspiring, and it’s great to know I am not going through this alone.  Even if you are not juicing this time, I appreciate your support.

I am about to re-watch the movie “Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead” by filmmaker Joe Cross.  I feel I need the inspiration to keep going and see first-hand how healing the magic of juice feasting really is.  If you haven’t seen that movie yet, I highly recommend it.
