Festival Information: The Mystic Garden Party will be taking place in Northern California from July 21-26th, 2010.  Michael Franti and Spearhead will headline the 4th Annual Mystic Garden Party (MGP), adding to an all-star cast of musicians including Brett Dennen, Jill Sobule, Random Rab, Dave Stringer Band and many more! “Music is sunshine,” says Michael Franti. “Like sunshine, music is a powerful force that can instantly and almost chemically change your entire mood. Music gives us new energy and a stronger sense of purpose.”

In the mid-Nineties, Franti first formed Spearhead, and increasingly in recent years, he’s found his own voice musically and his own organic brand of popular success. Franti and Spearhead’s last album, 2008’s All Rebel Rockers – recorded in Jamaica with legendary producers and players Sly & Robbie – became the biggest hit of Franti’s career, hitting the Top 40 on the Billboard 200, and yielded his biggest hit, the Top 20 “Say Hey (I Love You).”

In addition to nationally renowned musicians, MGP, a non-alcohol event, offers participants five nights of outdoor camping and a family friendly atmosphere. For the first time in MGP’s history, a Yoga Camp and an Ecstatic Dance Camp (co-sponsored by Conscious Dancer Magazine) add to an extensive array of workshops and presentations on topics such as sustainability, raw and living foods, drumming, meditation, visionary and healing arts, and more.
In light of the recent Gulf oil spill, MGP is particularly committed to raising awareness to our connection with water and how important good stewardship of water is for the quality of our lives today and for a sustainable future. MGP will feature a live webcast of the Global Water Ceremony inspired by Dr. Masaru Emoto, renowned water emissary and star of the hit documentary “What the Bleep Do We Know.”  The Global Water Ceremony will draw an unprecedented number of participants from around the world and will begin a national water awareness effort in conjunction with the United Nation’s “Decade of Action” campaign.

MGP Founder and Director Phil Lindsey states, “MGP is more than a festival. It represents part of a growing health and sustainable lifestyle movement. Our intent is really to raise the consciousness of humanity through music, arts, education, and ceremony. MGP is a party with a purpose.”

MGP is proud to be an eco-friendly event aiming for as ZERO WASTE as possible. In addition to use of recycling bins, attendees will be encouraged to use water bottles water bottle (rather than using plastic); green kits will be given to all vendors, encouraging food vendors to use plates & cups that are washed & reused (for a deposit), and carpooling opportunities will be posted on the festival website. A solar powered stage is also in development to reduce energy consumption.
